Migraine Headache

A migraine headache often feels like a severe, throbbing pain on one side of the head, although it can sometimes affect both sides. Here are some common sensations and symptoms associated with migraines:

  • Intense Pain: The pain can be debilitating and often described as pulsing or throbbing.
  • Sensitivity: People with migraines are usually very sensitive to light, sound, and sometimes even smells or touch.
  • Nausea and Vomiting: These symptoms often accompany the headache, making it even more challenging to manage.
  • Aura: Some people experience visual disturbances before the headache starts, such as flashing lights, zigzag patterns, or blind spots. These are known as aura and can also include sensory disturbances like tingling or numbness.
  • Fatigue and Dizziness: Many people feel extremely tired and dizzy during and after a migraine.

Vertigo/ Meniere's Disease

Vertigo is a sensation that you or your surroundings are spinning or moving, even when you're still. It often feels dizziness and can be quite disorienting. Here are some key points about vertigo:

  • Causes: Vertigo is commonly caused by issues in the inner ear, such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), Meniere's disease, or vestibular neuritis. It can also result from problems in the brain, like a stroke or migraine.
  • Symptoms: Besides the spinning sensation, vertigo can cause nausea, vomiting, loss of balance, headaches, and abnormal eye movements (nystagmus).
  • Treatment: Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may include vestibular rehabilitation, canalith repositioning maneuvers, medications, or in severe cases, surgery.

Facial Pain/Trigeminal Neuralgia

Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from your face to your brain. Here are some key points about it:

  • Symptoms: Sudden, intense, electric shock-like pain on one side of the face. The pain can be triggered by everyday activities like brushing your teeth, chewing, or even a light breeze on your face.

Post-Concussion Syndromes

Concussion symptoms can vary, but here are some common signs to look out for:

  • Headache: Often described as a persistent, throbbing pain.
  • Confusion: Feeling dazed or disoriented.
  • Amnesia: Temporary loss of memory about the event that caused the concussion.
  • Dizziness: Feeling unsteady or experiencing vertigo.
  • Nausea and Vomiting: Often accompany the headache.
  • Sensitivity to Light and Sound: Increased discomfort from bright lights or loud noises.
  • Balance Problems: Difficulty walking or maintaining balance.
  • Blurred Vision: Vision may be blurry or double.
  • Fatigue: Feeling unusually tired or sluggish.
  • Mood Changes
